Are you looking for an easily transportable vegan protein shake? If so, keep reading our review of the Orgain All-In-One Vegan Protein Shake in Vanilla Bean.

If you’ve been living under a rock and you haven’t seen Orgain Protein Powder at Costco or online, you have been missing out on one of the largest suppliers of plant-based protein products since Vega launched way back when. Orgain has two distinct product lines – a vegan plant-based line of protein powders, protein shakes, and nutrition bars and a grass-fed why protein product line. The impressive products started with founder, Dr. Andrew Abraham had a desire to create a clean line of nutrition products for his patients after his own success with creating his own protein shake to combat weight loss with cancer as a teen. It’s been an impressive run for the company and I can’t wait to see what comes next from this forward thinking company.

Today though, let’s dive into another product. I don’t know about you, but I love the idea of the ready to drink vegan shakes. Sometimes life gets crazy, and what’s more convenient than an on-the-go shake option to help fill in nutrition gaps, boost nutrition, and keep your tank filled? I don’t know, but we’re about to dive into the Vanilla Bean Orgain All-In-One Vegan Protein Shake available HERE and see how it stacks up on taste and nutrition. I’m a registered dietitian and my husband loves to eat and always has funny banter when I make him try new products. So, let’s check it out.

Taste Experience

When I first opened the Orgain All-In-One Vegan Protein Shake in Vanilla Bean carton, it had a mild, subtle vanilla flavor. Have you ever opened a can of slim fast or Ensure type products? Thankfully this smells far better and far less fake.

The first few sips were slow as I was trying to make out exactly what it was that I was tasting or not tasting. I will say that after tasting the chocolate and the vanilla Orgain All-In-One shakes, the vanilla is far superior in taste. The vegan protein shake is smooth and not gritty or chalky. The protein powder is covered up well with the creamy and only slightly sweet vanilla flavor. It doesn’t take fake, although I would still prefer to use protein powder in my own protein smoothie. However, I was happy this carton was resealable and wouldn’t spill all over the car I happened to be driving in part of the way down. I will say that I drank the smoothie cold and I couldn’t imagine drinking it at room temperature even though the plant-based protein shakes are shelf stable until opened. This is great because that means you can stock up on Amazon and have them delivered right to your doorstep! Plant-based protein hand delivered to help you boost your nutrition status.

Nutrition

The gluten free, soy free Vanilla Bean Orgain All-In-One Vegan Protein Shake has very comparable nutrition to the Smooth Chocolate flavor with 220 calories and only 50 calories coming from fat. This is a low amount for a meal and I find most people will need more than this for an actual meal, but I think the vegan shake would work great as a post-workout snack or mid afternoon mini meal if dinner will be hours away and you have a lot to still get done.

With 6 grams of total fat and only 1 gram of saturated fat and no trans fat, this is a heart healthy vegan choice. It has just enough to help keep you full but not so much fat that it becomes calorically dense.

The vegan protein shake has 25 grams of total carbohydrate with 2 grams of fiber and 9 grams of sugar. This makes it a great choice to give you an energy boost without spiking your blood sugar significantly. The protein and fiber will also help stabilize your blood sugar in this vegan protein shake.

Each Orgain All-In-One Vegan Protein Shake carton has 16 grams of protein from the pea protein and chia seeds. 16 grams of protein is a considerable amount and more than most people need for a snack, which makes this a better choice as a mini meal replacement or thinking of it as a hefty snack choice. If you’re looking for portable and/or liquid sources of plant-based protein, definitely consider the Vanilla Bean Orgain All-In-One Vegan Protein Shake.

One other thing about these vegan shakes, unlike most protein shakes, Orgain has added 21 different vitamins and minerals to help you fill in nutritional gaps. For many people, consuming this amount of micronutrients (and protein with few calories) is beyond challenging and I find that these meal replacements can be a great tool to help meet nutrition needs with a busy lifestyle.

The Non-Vegan Review

A vegan protein shake that comes in a resealable container?? Does the Vanilla Bean Orgain All-In-One Vegan Protein Shake taste bad? Is that why you need to reseal it for later – it’s too much at once?? That was honestly my first thought…especially because it looks like left over bran cereal milk at the bottom of the bowl. I know that we don’t want to be eating neon colored beverages, but this tan milky substance is better left in the container …because…once you taste it, it’s fine! I actually think it looked worse than anything  (so again, drink it cold and out of the container). It drank it as a breakfast with a piece of fruit and while I do like actual food better (even vegan protein bars and plant-based nutrition bars are more substantial to me), it was pretty tasty but I did get hungry a couple hours later. I don’t know if this was because it was a liquid or because it’s low in calories but either way, I would drink the Vanilla Bean Orgain All-In-One Vegan Protein Shake as a pre-workout or post-workout vegan snack/mini meal. Give the Vanilla Bean Orgain All-In-One Vegan Protein Shake a try for yourself and keep us posted – does it keep you full?
