If you live in the United States, Wlyssdon’s Earth Chimp Vegan Protein Powder may not be a brand that you are familiar with. That’s because this small husband and wife operated protein powder company is based in Ireland (that’s where the protein powder is made as well) but has made it mainstream and now is available in the United States on Amazon…which is how I first heard about it. You’ll have to forgive me because I’ve been wanting to get around and do a review on the Earth Chimp vegan protein powder and took pictures awhile back but hadn’t gotten around to it…and now that I have..I see they’ve changed their packaging to a sleeker, prettier design. The previous packaging you’ll see wasn’t anything great and didn’t truly help sell how great of a protein powder Earth Chimp is. So, apologies in advance for the images but keep reading for a thorough review or head over to Amazon and see what hundreds of other reviews have to say about Earth Chimp vegan protein powder.

Taste Experience

If you’ve been around the vegan protein powder land, you’ve experienced the super sweet protein powders that use sugar alcohols and you’ve also experienced the super salty protein powders that leave you feeling super thirsty. By in large, the best part about Wlyssdon’s Earth Chimp Vegan Protein Powder in Chocolate is that it doesn’t contain sugar alcohols – so it’s not super sweet and it only has 200mg of sodium per serving (compared to over 300mg in many vegan protein powders).

When you first open the package, you’ll notice it smells a bit like cocoa powder or like a hot chocolate powder and doesn’t smell very plant-y or very sweet. Earth Chimp doesn’t contain any fillers or gums like many protein powders do, so I prefer to mix it in a smoothie with other fruit and whole foods. Here at The Vegan’s Pantry, our favorite chocolate based protein powder shake includes chocolate protein powder like Earth Chimp, peanut butter, dates, and banana (see the recipe below). I’ve made this combination with many different protein powders before but after blending all of the ingredients with the Earth Chimp protein powder, I’m surprised at how smooth, creamy, and delicious it looks! First sip and holy cow – it’s radically delicious. I can’t believe how smooth and cocoa tasting it is but yet the ingredients are so wholesome without any additives. There’s even superfoods like flax, turmeric, cinnamon, kale, and cocoa that really increase the overall enjoyment factor!

I’ve tried a lot of chocolate protein powders in my vegan days, but Wlyssdon’s Earth Chimp Chocolate Protein Powder is truly many steps above the rest and it’s personally been hard for me to continue to try others because this one works so well! Nutrition

Each serving (which is actually two scoops – not one like many protein poweders) of Wlyssdon’s Earth Chimp Chocolate Vegan Protein Powder has 130 calories and only two grams of fat most likely from the pumpkin and coconut. In general, this is a lower fat food and if you’re looking for a meal replacement, I would blend with an additional source of calories, and more specifically fat calories to help meet essential fatty acid requirements. The peanut butter in the above recipe would work beautifully!

Wlyssdon’s Earth Chimp Chocolate Vegan Protein Powder has less sodium per serving (200mg sodium in each serving) than many other protein powders that contain well over 300mg. This significantly contributes to the overall delicious taste without it being too salty but still gives it flavor.

With only 10 grams of total carbohydrate and 4 grams of fiber, this is a great vegan protein powder option if you are watching your carbs or just trying to eat less in general. It’s also great that Earth Chimp doesn’t have any added sugars or any added sugar alcohols as many American made protein powders and plant-based protein powder blends contain one or both sugar or sugar alcohols. Leave it to the Europeans to have a protein powder without the sugar or sugar alcohol – what a novel idea right?!

But of course because it’s a vegan protein powder, you’ll want to know how much protein is in it, right?? There are 20 grams of protein in Earth Chimp protein powder from pea, pumpkin, sunflower, and coconut sources in each serving – which is actually 2 scoops unlike some vegan protein powders. 20 grams of plant-based protein is a great target for the amount of protein needed in a meal for most people, making this an easy addition to your breakfast or even make a dessert smoothie with chocolate almond milk and frozen cherries! Plant-based protein powders are a quick and conveinent way to get in your protein on a vegan diet and with the smooth creamy taste of Earth Chimp’s Chocolate Protein powder, it’s even easier yet!

Micronutrients aren’t added to Wlyssdon’s Earth Chimp Chocolate Vegan Protein Powder but because of all of the whole food ingredients, this protein powder is a great source of iron (38% RDA), potassium (14% RDA), magnesium (14% RDA), and also contains a small amount of vegan sourced Vitamin D (4% RDA) and calcium (2% RDA). Earth Chimp protein powder also contains a blend of six different digestive enzymes that ease digestion and absorption so the protein powder doesn’t hit your stomach like a rock as other brands sometimes can.

Wlyssdon’s Earth Chimp Chocolate Vegan Protein Powder may not be made in the United States but it’s a fantastic vegan protein powder option that uses clean, organic, gluten-free, soy-free ingredients without added fillers like gums, sugar, or sugar alcohols. Many vegan protein powders contain at least one of these and honestly it makes them taste not as great. Earth Chimp has the taste, nutrition, and quality ingredients. Parting Thoughts

As mentioned earlier, Wlyssdon’s Earth Chimp Chocolate Vegan Protein Powder does not contain any fillers like gums or stabilizers, sugars or sugar alcohols and instead relies on quality whole foods, plant-based ingredients like pea and pumpkin protein with super foods like flax, cinnamon, cacao, and kale. The chocolate protein powder is creamy and delicious while providing a considerable amount of plant-based protein to help you meet your protein goals, lose weight, or repair muscle after a tough workout. We’ve been using Earth Chimp plant-based vegan protein for awhile now and while you’ve probably never heard of this company if you live in the United States, I strongly suggest that you give this quality protein powder a try in your next breakfast smoothie or wherever you use protein powder! I bought the vanilla flavor on Amazon and I absolutely LOVE it! I appreciate the fact there are no gums or other fillers, which typically wreak havoc on my stomach. I mix mine with almond milk, powdered PB, some flax seeds, and blueberries. The flavor is delicious. I’ve tried many, many, vegan protein powders and none compare to this. Smooth and creamy with no weird aftertaste.

Have tried a few protein powders and this one is the best flavor by far. The absence of sugar alcohol is the reason I believe. Glad I found it and took a chance! Your description confirms what I was thinking after trying unsweetened almond milk and this powder and ice. Didn’t “need” anything else to taste good!
