Orgain is taking over the plant-based vegan protein bar and protein powder world by a storm. The company was started by Dr. Andrew Abraham after he and his mother headed into the kitchen to create a whole foods based protein powder to help him gain weight during his cancer treatment. After becoming a physician himself, he knew there was a need for cleaner nutrition protein and meal replacement products and so, Orgain was born.
Orgain has two vastly different product lines – a vegan version of meal replacement shakes, protein powders, and protein bars along with non-vegan versions of the same products. If you are interested in protein powders, I definitely recommend that you check out our review on the Orgain Organic Protein powder as the chocolate flavor remains one of my very favorite vegan protein powders. If you’re looking for more vegan protein snack bars, you’re in the right place because today we’re reviewing Orgain Organic Protein Plant-Based Vegan Protein Bar available in 4 flavors – Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Peanut Butter, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk, and S’mores. Today, we’re reviewing Orgain’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Vegan Protein Bar. Keep reading to see how it stacks up, or head over to Amazon and read what others are saying.

Taste Experience
While not directly related to the taste, I was surprised at how small the Orgain Vegan Protein Bar was. It’s like a little nugget of a protein bar compared to others I’ve had. It’s quite firm in texture when I picked it up and again, feels like I’m holding a nugget (not a nutrient dense bar).
The Orgain Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Vegan Protein Bar does not smell which I find interesting as well because usually there’s always some sort of a smell with nutrition and protein bars, good or bad.
At first bite, the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Protein Bar tastes like a protein powder blend pressed together with a sweetener and a few dabs of chocolate chunks. It’s chewy without being sticky (which I appreciate being able to munch down on a protein bar without getting sticky sweetness everywhere). The bar is well formed and isn’t dry or crumbly. I adore the ingredient list and the small size is just perfect for those of you out there like me that feel overwhelmed with massive protein bars. There’s not much of an aftertaste but honestly, the taste isn’t quite for me. Perhaps it’s this flavor or perhaps it’s just my preference because hundreds of other people swear by these Orgain Vegan Protein Bars. Check them out on Amazon and see if they’re a good fit for you (because they are for a lot of vegans and plant-based eaters!).

Nutrition
Each Orgain Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Vegan Protein Bar has a modest 140 calories with only 45 calories from fat. This explains the small size and only a trickle of chocolate chunks. If you were looking for a lower calorie vegan protein bar, this would be a good option.
The plant-based protein bar has 5 grams of fat from the chia seeds, almonds, and chocolate but no trans fat and only 1.5 grams of saturated fat. There is only 105mg of sodium per snack protein bar which makes it suitable for many people.
With 20 grams of total carbohydrate, 5 grams of sugar, and 6 grams of fiber, the Orgain Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Vegan Protein Bar provides enough sustenance without being a huge sugar bomb that would create wild blood sugars swings. The plant-based vegan protein bar does contain 3 grams of sugar alcohols which provide sweetness but do not register in the body the same way carbohydrates do. Sugar alcohols are fine to eat in small doses but large quantities have been known to cause GI upset. This bar wouldn’t have enough to do that for most people.
The Orgain Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Vegan Protein Bar has an impressive 10 grams of protein in a small package from the brown rice protein, pea protein, and chia seeds. This is a huge amount of plant-based protein in a convenient size and is definitely the highlight of this bar. Without a doubt, because Orgain Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Vegan Protein Bar comes in a small low calorie size but is loaded with protein, it can be a great option for you to boost your vegan protein intake and find a convenient portable snack. The Non-Vegan Review
Hello vegan world. How’s it going today? I hope well. My slave driving, plant killing wife is back at it again. I have another vegan bar to try for you. Today it’s Orgain’s Organic Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough protein bar. These bars are vegan, soy free, gluten free, dairy free, and non-GMO. The bars are relatively small at 140 calories, but they do have 10 grams of plant-based protein. Taste is decent. They are lite on chocolate flavor with a good cookie dough texture. The innards of the bar are protein crisps that give the bar a little crunch. Overall not a bad tasting bar and you get a bunch of protein in a small, calorie-lite bar. Enjoy! Non-vegan husband out.
