Here at Vegan Sprinkles, we’re not strangers to reviewing Bobo’s Oat Bars. This in part because of the plant-based bars and snacks but also in part to the heartwarming story of how the company started…Beryl was a struggling mother burning the candle at both ends trying to start a catering business while wanting to spend more time with her daughter, Bobo. All it took was one rainy afternoon baking session to create an oat bar that soon became the talk of the community. Before the mom and daughter knew it, the company grew from small community beginnings to being offered nationwide.

Bobo’s continues to use simple, whole food ingredients to create snack and nutrition bars that are non-GMO and soy free along with being plant-based and vegan. Bobo’s has created a line of Bobo’s Oat Bars, Oat Stuffed Bars and Bobo’s Bites. Today, we’re going to review the Bobo’s Stuff’d Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip Oat Nutrition Bars. You can check Bobo’s Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Stuff’d Vegan Nutrition Bars here on Amazon.

If you want to keep reading to see what I, a plant-based dietitian, and my very non-vegan, omnivore husband have to say about the Bobo’s Stuff’d Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Oat Bar, keep reading…

Taste Experience

At first bite, I’m pleasantly surprised at Bobo’s Stuff’d Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip Oat Nutrition Bars. I immediately enjoy the chewy texture but I must say, it takes a few bites to get into the peanut butter filling (and I would personally like more of the nut butter filling). I do like the hearty texture of the oats compared to CLIF Stuffed Nut Butter Bars that are sweeter and stuck together with more goop and syrup than wholesome oats.

There are plump rich, creamy, and satisfying chocolate chips that evenly sprinkled throughout the bar. At the suggestion of a friend, I heated up the remaining part of the plant-based vegan nutrition oat bar and it tasted like a homemade cookie! So good.

I enjoy that the ingredient list is simple and doesn’t rely on isolated plant-proteins but rather ingredients you’d find in your pantry – it’s just that the baking is already done for you and now it’s time to enjoy this plant-based snack in a convenient package. Find Bobo’s Stuff’d Oat Bars on Amazon.

Nutrition

Unlike the Bobo’s Oat Bars where the serving size is 1/2 a bar, the Stuff’d Bar serving size is one bar. This is important because there is increased clarity and decreased risk for confusion when it comes to reading the nutrition label on these plant-based vegan oat nutrition bars. Each oat bar contains 330 calories with a substantial 17 grams of fat (only 7 grams of saturated fat). The majority of the calories and fat come from the dry roasted peanuts which are a healthy source of plant-based calories and fat.

Since the gluten-free vegan oat bar is 100% plant-based, there is no cholesterol. Bobo’s Oat Bars have minimal sodium (90 milligrams per vegan nutrition oat bar) and can be great alternatives to traditional high-sodium breakfasts like instant oatmeal, some cold cereals, and the usual western (non-vegan) breakfast like sausage and bacon.

There are 38 grams of total carbohydrate in Chocolate Peanut Butter Bobo’s Stuff’d Oat Bar and 6 grams of fiber to help give you energy but sustain your blood sugar levels whether you eat the vegan nutrition bar as a breakfast or mini meal bar. The  vegan nutrition bar is certified gluten-free for anyone who may be gluten sensitive.

In Bobo’s Vegan Oat Bars, you will find 4% of your calcium needs for the day and 10% of your iron needs. As per other vegan sources of iron, the iron in oats is non-heme and better absorbed with a source of Vitamin C consumed at the same time. Consider snacking on strawberries with your Bobo’s Oat Vegan Nutrition Bar (available here on Amazon) to help increase your plant-based iron absorption.

The Non-Vegan Review

Watch out CLIF, Bobo’s is squeezing some nut butter into their bars too, and it’s totally delicious! Unlike the CLIF nut butter bars, which I actually really like, the Bobo bars are really large and chock full of nut butter and chocolate chips. They’re also not as sweet as CLIF bars, which I really appreciate. I also like that these Bobo’s Stuff’d Peanut Butter Chocolate Oat bars have 7 grams of protein in the them. Add that protein to the 6 grams of fiber and you have a bar that will satisfy your hunger for a 3-4 hours. Bobo’s bars are my favorite for a breakfast meal replacement. And, guess what, they are 100% plant killer approved (vegan), gluten free, and soy free. And, you know, the best place to get these and anything else is on Amazon. Non-vegan husband out!

Parting Thoughts

If you love oats, oat bars, vegan breakfast bars, or less traditional plant-based nutrition bars, Bobo’s Stuff’d Oat Bars could be a great alternative for you to try. The vegan and gluten-free bars are wholesome with real food, non-GMO ingredients available in a convenient package. The hearty oats, creamy peanut butter, and subtle sweetness of the chocolate create a great tasting bar without any artifical taste, grit, or weird chemical experiment taste.
