Bobo’s Oat Bar company started with a mother and daughter duo in Colorado after an afternoon baking session. Beryl had been trying to get a catering business up and running but once she discovered how popular the oat bars were in her local community, she switched gears and now makes plant-based oat nutrition bars available across the nation and available here on Amazon.
From the early days, Bobo’s uses small batch pans and baking equipment to create a delicate, complex, and unique taste that only baking in small batches can create. It’s that small batch, wholesome, non-GMO, gluten-free, and soy-free ingredients that has cultivated a strong fan base and a variety of products throughout the years. Bobo’s continues to use simple, whole food ingredients to create snack and nutrition bars that are non-GMO and soy free along with being plant-based and vegan. Bobo’s has created a line of Bobo’s Oat Bars, Oat Stuffed Bars and Bobo’s Bites.
Today, we’re going to review the Bobo’s Stuff’d Coconut Almond Butter Oat Nutrition Bars which are available here on Amazon. Continue reading to see what I, a plant-based dietitian, and my very non-vegan, omnivore husband have to say about the Bobo’s Stuff’d Coconut Almond Butter Oat Bar, keep reading…
Before getting there – let me just clear the air – Bobo’s Stuff’d Oat Bars are similar to CLIF Nut Butter Filled Bars as both are vegan and plant-based and stuffed with nut butter. The Bobo’s are certified gluten free (the CLIF ones are not), the Bobo’s Bars are larger in size (mostly the thickness), and the Bobo’s Stuffed Bars have significantly less ingredients compared to the CLIF Nut Butter Filled Bars. These are just points to keep in mind as I know many people like to compare the two as they seem like similar products. I can totally see that but they do taste different and have a different texture. Let’s see how the Bobo’s Stuff’d Oat Bars are…
The Bobo’s Stuff’d Coconut Almond Butter Oat Nutrition Bars immediately taste like chewy oats with undertones of coconut flakes. The gluten free oats are wholesome and hearty and although I find some Bobo’s Oat Bars to be on the drier side, I feel like the high fat content of the coconut flakes helps keep this vegan nutrition bar moist.
The plant-based oat bar has just enough sweetness not be bland but it not insanely sweet that you need to wash it down with a big glass of water. I also think the creamy and salty nut butter filling compliments the sweet oat nutrition bar part.
The vegan plant-based stuffed oat bars from Bobo’s taste like a local cafe’s baked good instead of large manufacturing company’s product. I like to do a lot of cooking and baking on my own, but I like Bobo’s Stuff’d Coconut Almond Butter Oat Nutrition Bars as a back up for a snack or light breakfast on the go. They are filling, tasty, and slightly sweet to get me going or give me a midday boost. Get your own plant-based Bobo’s Stuff’d Coconut Almond Butter Oat Nutrition Bars on Amazon.
Unlike the Bobo’s Oat Bars where the serving size is 1/2 a bar, the Stuff’d Bar serving size is one bar. Thank goodness because no one needs that kind of confusion on a conveient vegan meal bar designed to eat on-the-go!
Each plant-based oat nutrition bar contains 320 calories with 18 grams of fat (only 4.5 grams of saturated fat). This is a substantial amount for a breakfast or a larger snack for most vegans or predominately plant-based eaters.
Bobo’s gluten free, organic, soy free, plant-based nutrition bars have 140mg sodium. This is a lower amount compared to vegan protein bars and would be a great choice for most individuals concerned about sodium intake.
There are 37 grams of total carbohydrate in the Bobo’s Stuff’d Coconut Almond Butter Oat Nutrition Bars and 6 grams of fiber to help keep your blood glucose level stable and prevent huge spikes you may see in refined carbohydrate foods without fiber. Most of the carbohydrates are coming from certified gluten-free oats which is great news for anyone with a gluten sensitivity.
In Bobo’s Vegan Nutrition Oat Bars, you will find 6% of your calcium needs for the day and 10% of your iron needs. Like many plant-based sources of iron, the iron in oats and almonds is non-heme (so it hasn’t been oxygenated yet) and would be better absorbed with Vitamin C consumed at the same time. Consider munching on a navel orange with your Bobo’s Oat Vegan Nutrition Bar to increase your iron absorption. The Non-Vegan Review
I’m a huge fan of Bobo’s bars, especially these new Butter Stuffed bars. The bars are huge, soft, moist, and injected with just the right amount of nut butter. I eat them as my breakfast with a piece of fruit and I’m good all the way until lunch. I’m not gluten intolerant (at least that’s what my brain tells me), but I still like that Bobo’s bars are gluten free, and I like that they are soy free, and of course, my wife likes that they are vegan. The Coconut Almond Butter bars have a pretty distinct coconut flavor that kinds covers up the almond flavor, but you can see the almond butter in the bar. Overall, you can’t go wrong with a Bobo’s bar. Enjoy! Non-vegan husband out.
