There are many types of baby food out on the market, but when it comes to finding vegan baby food that’s wholesome and nutritious, there are some better brands out there. As a vegan, plant-based registered dietitian, I wanted to provide healthy, vegan options when starting to feed my little one and I was surprised at how little information there was out there. The baby foods listed are not only made with quality ingredients, but focus on key nutrients for plant-based little ones. Those key nutrients are iron, zinc, and vitamin B 12. When feeding plant-based sources of iron to babes, it’s a good idea to combine it with vitamin C – so for example, black beans and mango or garbanzo beans and bell pepper!

Again, there are many varieties of baby food out there, these are just our favorites because of their quality ingredients and nutrition.

5 Best Vegan Baby Foods

5. NOKA Superfood Pouches – Sweet Potato and Goji Berry

What We Love: Technically marketed towards adults, these pouches made from blended fruits and vegetables are great for little ones too. This NOKA Sweet Potato and Goji Berry Flavor is super packed with iron, protein, and potassium. While it may be too much for younger babes, this is a great resealable pouch that can either be polished off by parents or saved for the next feeding! We are definitely partial to Earth’s Best Whole Grain Oatmeal Cereal as a first food, but when you’re ready to add more flavor – and you’re especially needing something on the go, this sweet potato cinnamon breakfast is a fantastic choice. It’s high in iron, naturally sweet, and a great source of Vitamin A, potassium, and fiber. It’s a wholesome breakfast for when you’re running out the door sending the little one off to childcare or you wake up too late to eat. Find Earth’s Best Pouches HERE.
