ThinkThin was founded by Lizanne Falsetto in 1999. The self-described foodie and single mom was a runway and print model throughout the 1990s and she developed several snack and meal-replacements popular among models. Lizanne Falsetto is gluten sensitive and was one of the first entrepreneurs to bring a gluten-free bar to the scene. Aside from being gluten free, the thinkThin bars are high protein and high fiber without all the added sugar. The company has exploded in the nutrition market and despite being sold to a larger company in 2015, thinkThin continues to offer good-for-you foods that taste delicious.
ThinkThin has an extensive product line including High Protein Bars, Protein and Fiber Bars, Protein and Superfruit Bars, Protein Cakes, Protein Nut Bars, Protein and Fiber Hot Oatmeal, Protein Bites, Protein and Probiotic Powders, and High Protein Smoothie Mixes. Most of the products use whey as the protein source and are not vegan, but one of thinkThin’s newest products, the Protein Nut Bar is mostly plant-based. The Protein Nut Bar comes in five flavors including Chocolate Coconut Almond, Dark Chocolate Salted Caramel, Dark Chocolate, Original Roasted Almond, and White Chocolate. The only non-vegan Protein Nut Bar is the White Chocolate Flavor. The other four flavors are totally vegan and I wanted to see if they were totally delish too! So I bought a package of the Chocolate Coconut Almond on Amazon because I loved that the bar was coated and rolled in shredded coconut. Keep reading to see what I, the plant-loving vegan Dietitian and my omnivore husband had to say about it!

Taste Experience – 8.5 out of 10
The bar smells rich and chocolaty but wholesome and earthy. I love being able to see the whole nut pieces sprinkled throughout. In general, the bar looks more like a candy bar with a dark creamy chocolate backdrop and a light coconut flake dusting.
My first bite is a texture and taste explosion! The vegan chocolate tastes real without any artificial sweetener or weird nutrition bar aftertaste. Each bite provides a slightly different texture with the various nuts included in the nutrition bar including pumpkin seeds, almonds, and peanuts. I love the wholesome texture of the bar instead of some of those vegan nutrition bars where everything is blended into oblivion. The coconut hint on the back end polishes off a nutty chocolate experience that legit feels like I’m eating a candy bar. If I didn’t just pull the thinkThin Vegan Protein Nut Bar out of the package, I would have never thought this was the same bar. It doesn’t taste like “healthy” food at all. Its rich and chocolaty while having the perfect coconut and nut balance. They are so good, you may want to keep the whole box to yourself. Or, if you buy a box of thinkThin Chocolate Coconut Almond Protein Nut Bars on Amazon, you may decide to share since they not only taste great but are great for you. Let’s take a closer look at that nutrition in the next section…

Nutrition – 7 out of 10
Each thinkThin Vegan Protein Nut Bar in the Chocolate Coconut Almond flavor has 190 calories with 100 of those calories coming healthy sources of fat in the nuts. The plant-based nutrition bar has 11 grams of total fat without any trans fat and only three and a half grams of saturated fat (thanks to those heart healthy nuts). These Protein Nut Bars do not have any cholesterol as they are made with all plant-based ingredients.
The chocolate coconut sweetness is balanced with 115 milligrams of sodium per bar. This is higher than some nutrition bars but I feel like it’s necessary and part of the reason the bar tastes so great – it’s that balance of salty and sweet. Speaking of sweet, there are only 17 grams of carbohydrate per bar with three grams of fiber and eight total grams of sugar, making thinkThin Protein Nut Bars a great post-workout or midday snack. I really enjoyed it chopped up and sprinkled on almond yogurt or coconut ice cream for a nutritious dessert!
Each bar has nine grams of plant-based protein from the soy crisps and nuts. The nuts also provide most of the iron and calcium. There are no added vitamins and minerals but each thinkThin Chocolate Coconut Almond nutrition bar has 4% of your daily calcium needs and 15% of your daily iron needs – that’s a big bang for such a small plant-based snack bar! Boost your nutrition anytime of the day and try out the vegan thinkThin Chocolate Coconut Almond Nutrition Bars.

The Non-Vegan Review – 9.5 out of 10
Listen here vegan people of the interwebs. These thinkThin bars are deeeelicious! I mean, I can barely write this review because I’m stuffing this whole bar down my mouth. Let me paint the picture for you – fresh chewy flavorful coconut flakes, chunky satisfying pumpkin seeds and whole almonds, that’s right whole freaking almonds, delicious snap in your mouth roasted almonds, and then comes that rush of dark chocolate coating reaching around to take you over the edge. Orgasmic I tell you! At not point did I think “thin”, nope, not once, no thinking “thin” here. Which is good, since I thought these were diet oriented bars. They are definitely not diet bars. In my case, I’m thinking “thicc”, because I’ma goin eat five of these toonite. Non-vegan husband out. Oh yeah, buy these now on Amazon by clicking here. Gracias!
Parting Thoughts
The portable package size and balanced nutrition including adequate protein and fiber make this vegan thinkThin Protein and Nut Bar a great on the go nutrition bar option. The wholesome bar includes delicious wholesome ingredients to nourish your body and ease your mind. Keep thinkThin Protein Nut Bars in your car, at your desk, in your gym bag. Again, my favorite way is chopped up on almond yogurt or coconut ice cream to amp up the nutrition and satisfaction while tasting all sorts of decadent and dreamy. It’s taste and nutrition you don’t need to feel guilty about. See what I’m talking about by supporting a socially conscious company and a fellow vegan by purchasing the bars through Amazon. These reviews started out of my own want to see plant-based product reviews out there before I would buy products, so I hope you’ve found this useful!
