It’s summer crunch time and you’re about to munch on some BBQ Lays sitting out in the sun by the beach … or maybe it’s not that dreamy and you’re really just a vegan standing in the grocery store wondering…are Lays BBQ Chips Vegan??
Are Lays BBQ Chips Vegan?
Yes! Lays BBQ Chips are one of the most popular chip flavors (and brands) available in the United States and if you are a vegan, you can munch on as Lays BBQ Chips do not contain any clear animal products or by products. Still don’t believe me?? Here is the ingredient list at the time of posting:
Lays BBQ Chips Ingredients: Potatoes, Vegetable Oil (Sunflower, Corn, and/or Canola Oil), Barbecue Seasoning (Sugar, Dextrose, Salt, Maltodextrin [Made From Corn], Molasses, Torula Yeast, Onion Powder, Spices, Tomato Powder, Paprika, Natural Flavors, Corn Starch, Caramel Color, Yeast Extract, Paprika Extract, Garlic Powder, and Mustard Seed Oil).
Torula yeast is made from wood alcohols and adds a smoky, umami flavor (hence why you see it in these BBQ chips but it may be otherwise unfamiliar to you. Sometimes, natural flavors are animal derived but unfortunately we don’t know for sure in this product. If you don’t want to risk it, then skip these Lays BBQ chips. If you are mostly plant-based, these Lays BBQ chips are just fine as they don’t contain any milk products like many chip flavors do.
I’m curious, are you a fan of Lays BBQ Chips?
