Health Warrior Superfoods started in 2010 when college friends, Dan, Nick, and Shane entered the professional world after recently graduating. They learned that they could no longer eat whatever they wanted, and after reading the book, Born to Run, the trio was introduced to chia seeds. In the book, it describes how members of particular Indian tribes eat chia seeds to run crazy long distances. The group of friends started eating chia seeds every day and eventually got everyone they knew hooked on chia seeds too. That’s when they decided to create a superfood nutrition bar that used chia seeds as the main ingredient – an easy and convenient way to better health.

Today, Health Warrior Superfoods has Chia Bars, Pumpkin Seed Bars, and Superfood Protein Bars. The plant-based products are vegan, gluten-free, and soy-free. I haven’t honestly tried any of the Pumpkin Seed Bars or the Superfood Protein Bars but I can tell you about the power-packed chia bars! Or at least that’s what I’m going to share with ya’ll today. Health Warrior Chia Bars are available in ten flavors including Acai Berry, Apple Cinnamon, Banana Nut, Caramel Sea Salt, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Coconut, Dark Chocolate Cherry, Dark Chocolate, Mango, and Vanilla Almond. One of the most widely available flavors is the Coconut that we’ll review today. If you want to see what others have to say, check out Amazon.

Taste Experience

Small seedy, nutty but also fairly chewy and slightly oily …That’s how I would describe the vegan Health Warrior Chia Bars. This Coconut flavor smells like coconut immediately after opening and thankfully tastes like real coconut flavor too and it’s just the right amount. The vegan bars use Brown Rice Syrup as a sweetener but I was surprised and happy to taste much more coconut than a super sweet treat.

The gluten-free, vegan bars are smaller than most nutrition bars (25 grams total) and while this would never be enough for a meal, I love the “real food” taste and chia seed texture. I was surprised at how long it held me over – must be all the fiber in the chia seeds but man oh man, these nuggets are my new favorite convenient vegan snack to have on hand and stock up on.

Nutrition

Marketed with only 100 calories and three grams of sugar per serving, the Health Warrior Chia Bars are truly an ideal snack. There are six total grams of fat with only two grams of saturated fat and a whopping 1100mg of ALA omega-3 fatty acids. ALA Omega-3s are found in plant-based foods but can still help fight and reduce inflammation, improve heart health, and even help lower blood sugar levels.

There are only 50 milligrams of sodium. This is considerably low for a packaged plant-based product and is suitable for those watching their sodium intake.

With 13 grams of total carbohydrate and four grams of fiber, Health Warrior Chia Bars make a great snack that will help keep you satisfied. This is especially true as most of the fiber in chia seeds is soluble fiber that helps bind to cholesterol and remove it from the body (along with other heart health benefits), promote stable blood sugars, and help with weight management.

Each vegan snack bar has three grams of plant-based protein to keep you full and help meet daily protein needs. All of the protein in the Health Warrior Coconut Bar is from the large concentration of chia seeds. The chia seeds are also what give this vegan bar a decent amount of minerals, especially for being a much smaller size than most nutrition bars. Each chia bar provides 4% of the daily value requirement for both calcium and iron and 6% of the daily value requirement for magnesium. Most Americans consume inadequate amounts of these minerals and with each little Health Warrior bar, you can not only satisfy your snack-bud but promote solid nutrition! If you’re looking for a convenient, tasty, healthy, and nutritious vegan snack, these Health Warrior Chia Bars are the winning ticket.
