Is Tomato Soup Vegan?

Yes! SOME Tomato Soups are vegan but many do contain milk. If you’re vegan or eating a plant-based diet, there are several over the counter vegan tomato soups or you can always make your own (which is a lot easier than you may think). However, if you’re in a pinch, store bought tomato soups can be a good option. Below you’ll find vegan tomato soups ranked in order of their nutritional status as tomato soups are not created equal and some are healthier than others. Check out vegan tomato soups below.

Best Tomato Soup

5. Campbell’s Tomato Soup

This classic is an accidental vegan food…although that doesn’t mean it’s the best choice for you (but does work in a pinch). The second ingredient in vegan Campbell’s Tomato Soup is high fructose corn syrup. It’s a familiar taste that can go great with a vegan grilled cheese, frozen vegetables added, or just as is although it’s a bit on the thin side and doesn’t offer much for fiber or protein (two grams of each). Check out Campbell’s Vegan Tomato Soup HERE.

4. Annie’s Organic Tomato Soup

Similar to Campbell’s, this has a classic canned tomato soup taste but the ingredients are organic, so you can feel really great about that. Although the ingredients are organic, Annie’s has about 200mg more of sodium compared to Campbell’s Tomato Soup and may not be the best option if you are monitoring your sodium intake. Annie’s Tomato Soup can be found HERE.

3. Imagine Garden Tomato

This light soup isn’t quite enough for a meal but with 3grams of fiber, 2 grams of protein, and only 280mg of sodium, it’s a great nutrition steal. It’s a shelf stable vegan soup that you may want to consider adding to your pantry. Personally, I think any tomato soup is better with noodles or certainly used to slather a vegan grilled cheese sandwich. Check out Imagine Tomato Soup HERE.

2. Amy’s Organic Chunky Bisque Tomato Soup

Amy’s creates some great vegan and organic food options, and this chunky tomato bisque is no different. If you’re a fan of the completely pureed tomato soups, this one may not be your favorite as it has thick, hearty chunks of tomatoes. However, if you love a good hearty tomato soup with fiber and protein (2 grams of fiber and 5 grams of protein), this is great option. Find Amy’s Organic Tomato Soup HERE.

1. Imagine Creamy Tomato Bisque

Creamy and dreamy tomato soup but without the dairy?? Yep! That’s right. Imagine’s Creamy Tomato Bisque uses soy milk to create a luxurious creamy soup that comes as close to homestyle tomato soup but without any animal products. It’s our favorite with grilled vegan cheeses or as is. It’s in a resealable container if you just wanted to heat up a bit at a time (hard to limit it to just that though!). Check out Imagine’s Creamy Tomato Bisque HERE.
