When it comes to the meatless meat options, there are an increasing number of options available on the market. As a long time vegan (over ten years) and as a plant-based vegan registered dietitian, I thought we could look at some of the best vegan meatless meat options out there while taking into consideration taste and the overall nutrition profile of the product.
Best Meatless Meat Options For Every Occasion – Vegan Friendly
What We Love: This vegan burger from Beyond Meat gets crispy on the outside and stays nice and juicy on the inside. Vegans and non-vegans alike will LOVE this burger that has a deep rich umami taste and turns brown as it cooks. There is a whopping 20 grams of protein per burger (very comparable to meat options) but with less fat and saturated fat (18 grams of fat and 5 grams of saturated fat) than meat varieties. The amount of fat helps the burger stay juicy when cooked and taste more comparable to a meat based burger as many plant-based options don’t have enough fat to give it that satiation factor and mouthfeel. Beyond Burgers are easy to cook on the grill or in a skillet and you will be truly blown away by the taste. Get your hands on Beyond Vegan Meatless Burgers HERE.
What We Love: These vegan sausages from Beyond Meats are perfectly spiced like the meat based sausages you know. One patty has only 90 calories and 6grams of protein with 6 grams of total fat to again help it taste more satisfying. Unlike regular sausage, because this is plant-based, you’ll even find a couple grams of fiber. Check out Beyond Meatless Breakfast Sausage HERE.
What We Love: If you miss scrambled eggs, or want a savory breakfast alternative, Just Egg Scramble is for you. Made primarily from mung beans, this liquid scramble cooks into what very much resembles scrambled eggs. Unlike other egg alternatives, Just Egg thankfully does not add black salt to create the sulfur smell….because really – does anyone enjoy that smell?! That means that you’ll get a tasty protein rich (three tablespoons has 5g protein) savory egg alternative to eat on its own or throw in a breakfast burrito wrap. Find Just Egg HERE.
What We Love: If you love a good sandwich on hearty bread full of veggies but you miss having a solid protein option – enter Tofurkey Deli Slices. These thin slices are tasty but mild in flavor so they are sure to go with any of your favorites. We love the Tofurkey Hickory Smoked the most but any of the Tofurkey Deli Slices are a great addition to your lunch sandwich. Plus, with 13g protein in only 5 slices, you’ll be satisfied and content noshing on Tofurkey Deli Slices you can pick up HERE.
What We Love: Gardein was one of the original plant-based products available in the freezer section and their products continue to amaze even the non-vegans. These vegan meatless meatballs are no different. They are plump, juicy, flavorful, and packed with protein without the extra fat/saturated fat that you find in animal based products. In only 3 meatless vegan meatballs, there are 14g protein and only .5g saturated fat. They have great texture, taste, and nutrition and will be loved by kids and adults alike annnnd vegans and non-vegans! Check out Gardein Plant-Based Meatless Meatballs HERE.

What We Love: Anthony’s is a great brand that has obscure flours and some pantry items including this textured vegetable protein. In case you aren’t familiar with TVP, it can be mixed with spices and a liquid to create essentially what looks like a ground meat. The TVP needs to be rehydrated (hence the liquid) and works well in chilis, tacos, and spaghetti type dishes. It’s super economical and high in protein (12g per 1/4 cup serving). Find Anthony’s TVP HERE.
What We Love: Butler soy curls are shelf stable, making them a great pantry staple for quick vegan meals. If you need a high protein pantry staple to add into stir-fries, soups, stews, Butler Soy Curls are a great option. Also high in protein and low in fat, these bulk vegan proteins are economical and easy to find HERE.
What We Love: Beyond Sausages are plump, juicy, high in protein, and super tasty! These are by far the best bratwurst like sausages to grill as they get crisp on the outside and still soft and tender in the inside. With a whopping 16 grams of plant-based protein, these vegan links are a great addition to your dinner table. Check out Beyond Sausage HERE.
What We Love: These Gardein Chick’n Tenders go great with just about any flavor profile and get deliciously crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The can also easily be microwaved for a quick meal and while they won’t be crispy, they are still 100% tasty. Enjoyed by kids and adults alike, check out Gardein Crispy Chick’n Tenders HERE.
